New Mazda 2 design unveiled

Goes sporty not boxy

14 February 2007 10:51 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Mazda has released the first official photo of its new Mazda 2 supermini ahead of its launch at the Geneva motor show next month.

The new design is a complete change from the boxy looking mini-MPV look of the previous two generations with the new design opting for a more sporty hatchback look.

While critics are already calling it a "vast improvement over its somewhat bland predecessor", Mazda's claiming the styling "represents the progression of the Zoom-Zoom brand promise … is more than just a model freshening of the current 2”.

No word on specs or price yet. Mazda has said that we will have to wait till the show for that information.
