Kodak unveils photo-printing All-in-Ones

First step into the consumer printing market

Kodak has entered the consumer printer market with a new range of Easyshare all-in-ones that claim to revolutionise the inkjet industry.

That's a bold claim indeed, but the company says that customers can save 50% compared to when using other inkjet printers because Kodak's inks and paper cost less.

Both new printers in the range offer photo printing with Kodak's new ink set, which consists of a black ink and a five-colour cartridge. The black cartridge costs £70, while the colour cartridge costs £10; Kodak claims that consumers can print the same number of pages at half the cost of other consumer inkjet printers, but it has not made clear which printers are being compared.

If a Kodak Photo Value Pack is used, then the cost of a 4 x 6-inch photo is as little as 7p per print.

The 5300 AiO features print, scan, and copy capabilities, with a speed of up to 32 pages per minute in black and 22 pages per minute in colour.

It has a 3-inch LCD display and, of course, memory card slots.

The 5500 is a step up and adds fax capabilities; its screen measures only 2.4-inches.

The 5300 will be available in May, while you'll have to wait until June for the 5500.
