Tomy is hoping to have the must have game in the playground this year with the launch of Zappit a simple handheld toy that pits your reaction speed against your friends.

The simple device is played between two players and sees gamers having to put there reflexes and co-ordination to the test as they "zap" a flashing light back to their opponent to defend their end and avoid losing a life.

There are six addictive levels and only five lives with the levels getting faster as the game progresses.

Zappit is pocket-sized and has a silence mode so it can be played anytime without annoying us grown-ups. Priced at £9.99 it is available in four colours: orange, green, blue and turquoise.

Expect it to be making a stir in the playgrounds soon.
