Marantz has launched a £600 DVD player, which it says will replace the need to upgrade to HD DVD or Blu-ray player.

The new DV7001 uses the same design and technology as its new flagship device - the DV9600 and is able to play compact discs and DVD-Videos, DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD multi-channel music discs as well as DVD-R/RW, DivX, MP3, WMA and JPEG.

According to Marantz, the proprietary Noise Shaped Video technology ensures the most accurate signal representation possible.

Meanwhile, an HDMI interface ensures that digital video signals are fed directly to display devices without any degradation, in full bandwidth, completely uncompressed.

For those of a technical nature; Powering this impressive design is a premium Analog Devices NSV Precision Video 216MHz/12-bit video DAC, comprising six Noise-Shaped Video chipsets, allied to Faroudja DCDi processing. The ADV7320 is the latest digital-to-analogue 12-bit/216MHz video processor from Analog Devices. Now in their 8th generation, Analog Devices video encoders lead the way in resolution and oversampling performance for both consumer and professional applications.

You’ll also find full bass management for DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and SACD discs as well as built-in Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound decoding.
