Driverless bus to change transport

Just like Johny Cabs from Total Recall

Bored with arguing with the bus driver than you've got enough money on your Oyster Card? When soon you might not have to.

A new concept bus design being shown off in the UK doesn't even have a driver. The driverless electric and biofuel hybrid bus is hailed to your location using your mobile phone.

Just like something out of Total Recall, you jump in with up to 12-to-24 other passengers and the bus takes you to your next destination by finding its way by following magnets embedded in the pavement like breadcumbs in the forest.

Of course its not just magnetic power that offers directions, but a built in GPS system as well.

On board sensors control speed and direction and to make sure it doesn't run anyone over.

A prototype is expected next year, while a commercially viable system is expected to go on trial in Heathrow airport by 2010.
