If you made a new year’s resolution to put your trainers to better use, why not pop along to Sandown Park on Sunday 11 February to take part in the Taut 10k race. The race is taking place alongside this year’s Triathlon Cycling and Running show (TCR07), which is the UK’s leading exhibition for this fast-growing sport. There’ll be over 120 suppliers of kit, clothing, training ideas and bikes on show. So, as well as blowing away the new year cobwebs and getting a spot of exercise, runners can see and buy the latest kit from leading brands such as Nike, Giant, Saucony, Asics, Orca, Brooks and Shimano to name only a few.
The Taut 10k race is a three-lap dash around the historic Sandown Park Racecourse with the emphasis on fun. The event starts at 10.00am, will be chip timed and will take place on both turf and tarmac. If you don’t think you are up to the 10k run, there’s also a 2-mile fun run for children and adults that is open to everyone. Friends and family can watch runners’ progress from the Grandstand as race as entry to the 10k run also includes two tickets to TCR07 where kids under 16 go free!
As well as the fantastic line-up of exhibitors, visitors and runners can attend free seminars and workshops being given by some of the sport’s top athletes and coaches. There’s also a children’s triathlon taking place at the show called "Dare to Dream, Dare to Tri", and there’s also the opportunity to test the latest brands and models on the TCR07 Bike Track.
