Pentax launch 5 megapixel Optio SV

30 October 2004 15:18 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Following a US release in September, Pentax has announced the Optio SV in the UK. The camera which will offer 5 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom ups the ante from the usual array of 3x optical zoom model so popular at the moment.

Pentax has managed to cram so much into such a small casing due to the use of a unique 'Sliding Lens' System, which Pentax say plays a significant role in the reduction of the overall depth of the camera.

The reduction means that the 5x zoom is just 28mm in depth when fully extended. The camera also offers a number of scene modes, a jog dial to access them and a 4x digital zoom. It should be available in the next month priced around £320
