The battle over HD DVD versus Blue-ray just stepped up a notch with Toshiba announcing it will be putting HD DVD drives in its Laptop range from the end of next year.

The format, which allows up to 8 hours of footage on one disc is going up again Sony's Blue-ray format.

Both Sony and Toshiba are currently battling it out in a format war to decide which format the consumer opts for. Sony as already hinted that it will be including Blue-ray into its PlayStation 3 as well as publishing movies from Columbia and MGM.

Toshiba however, in a separate interview with Yahoo, are hoping that Time Warner sides with its format as it did DVD six years ago.
