CES 2007: Meccano follows Lego with robotic toy

At CES 2006 it was Lego who stole the march with its NXT Bluetooth-enabled robotic building blocks, this year contruction efforts go to Mecanno's American arm, Erector.

The company has announced it will be launching Spyke, a robot that is controlled via a PC over Wi-Fi.

The new robot, which loosely resembles Johnny 5 from the 80s film Short Circuit will also feature a webcam and be moved using rubber bands.

The new robot will cost approximately $270 in the US and 250 euros in Europe.

Meanwhile WowWee has been showing off new designs including a robotic panda and a follow up to the company's robot monkey, a robotic Elvis head.
