The BBC has plans to develop social networking sites based around its most popular and wellknown TV programs.

There's no launch plans as yet, but it's an ongoing project for the BBC to develop its online service.

The sites, based on shows like Top Gear and BBC Good Food, will be more interactive that the corporation's website is currently.

The plans may have come after a report by Deloitte said that organisations like the BBC and other media outlets could benefit from social networking on their sites because it develops brand loyalty.

“If appropriate social networking opportunities arise, then we would look at them very seriously, because it's a growing area of business that we're not particularly in at the moment”, said a BBC spokesperson.
