CES 2007: Yamaha announce NX-U10 USB speakers

USB powered don't you know

10 January 2007 9:07 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Yamaha has announced a new portable speaker system that is powered via USB.

Called the NX-U10 the speaker system offers 20w of sound via 2 x 10w speakers even though the majority of USB powered speakers up to this date are only capable of 10 times less than this.

A USB connection from your laptop or PC will pass the audio through to the NXU10 although the speaker does also offer an additional 3.5mm input jack to connect your phone or MP3 player.

The unit also offers battery operation if the USB is unavailable.

Priced at £149, Yamaha has said the NX-U10s will be available later this year.
