Archos announces iPod Mini sized 20Gb MP3 player

Archos, has launched an ultra small MP3 player to not only challenge the iPod, but also the iPod Mini. The player - entitled the Gmini XS200 measures just 7.6 x 5.9 x 1.9cm and weights 120g even though it can store up to 5,000 songs.

The size is roughly the same as the new Creative Zen Micro, the iPod Mini and Dell's new Pocket DJ 5.

The player can support MP3, WAV and WMA files, which can be transferred to it via the USB2.0 interface. The downside is that the player only offers a 10 hour battery life compared to Apple's 12 for the iPod.

Archos has yet to confirm a price on its website, however our guess would be that it will be priced similar to its rivals.
