Epson replaces the Stylus Photo 1290s with the 1400

Similar features with additional direct CD/DVD printing

Epson is replacing the Stylus Photo 1290s in its photo printer range with the 1400, which uses the company's new Claria Photographic ink.

Based on six inks, including light cyan and light magenta, Claria promises up to 200 years of durability when used with the correct paper.

The Stylus Photo 1400 has many of the same features as the 1290s, and has added printing directly to CD and DVD, so that archiving and identifying disc content is easier.

For connectivity, the printer has a PictBridge slot, USB2, and an optional Wireless Ethernet Print server.

The printheads utilise Micro Piezo technology to deliver prints from 4 x 6 to A3+, incorporating Advanced Variable-Sized Droplet Technology for better detail and smoother colour transitions.

It manages professional-quality 8 x 10 prints in as fast as 108 seconds, and 11 x 14 prints in as littls as 173 seconds.

The Stylus Photo 1400 will be available for £300.
