Jimmy Carr to perform in Second Life

Get tickets to the show via a Second Life competition

5 January 2007 12:08 GMT / By Amber Maitland

Second Life has just announced its first live comedy show, starring British comedian Jimmy Carr.

The gig will take place on 3 February. Carr will perform in London for a small live audience and simultaneously be broadcast in Second Life, also for a small group of people.

All Second Life members can enter the competition to win tickets to see the show in Second Life. Carr will be modelled in 3D prior to the event, so that his avatar will be as realistic as possible, while performers will trace Jimmy's movements on the stage, so that they can be translated into the movements of his characters.

Second Life has hosted live shows in the past, most recently a Suzanne Vega concert. The real world is encroaching more and more into the virtual world, with known clothing brands opening retail outlets for avatars, and hotel chains opening branches there.
