Analysts at Gartner have published their ten predictions for IT next year, and have determined that blogging will level off next year.Their research shows that at the moment there are around 200 million ex-bloggers worldwide, people who became disillusioned or bored with blogging and gave up. And from this, Gartner estimates that the peak number of bloggers will reach 100 million during the first half of next year.
Analyst Daryl Plummer told the BBC, A lot of people have been in and out of this thing. Everyone thinks they have something to say, until they're put on stage and asked to say it.
Gartner analysts are also predicting that Vista will be Microsoft's last major release of Windows, and that the focus will shift to updating operating systems more incrementally, and with a concentration on quality.
In good news for those thinking of buying a new PC, the average total cost of new PCs is predicted to fall by 50%.
The analysts have a grim outlook on privacy, saying that by 2010, 60% of people who own a mobile phone worldwide will be 'trackable' via an emerging 'follow-me Internet'. The growing demand for national safety and civil protection will mean that people's privacy will be somewhat compromised, and people will be traceable because of the mobile that they carry.
