Sony is calling its latest DVD drive, the DRX-830UL-T, its first “dual-platform, multi-format DVD writer kit for the European market”.

This is not because its the first one that works on both Mac and PC, but because it's supplied with DVD authoring software for both Windows and Mac.

It's bundled with Nero 7 Essentials for Microsoft users, and Toast 6 Lite for Apple fans.

Featuring a vertical design that saves desk space, it's equipped with dual FireWire/IEE-1394 and USB2 interfaces, and is capable of 18x overspeed writing on a standard 16x DVD+/- disc. It accepts dual-layer discs and achieves 12x DVD-RAM speeds.
