After a mild and dry start to the winter season in Europe skiers are now breathing a sigh of relief as snow has started to fall across the Alps.Major ski resorts including Alpe D’Huez and Val Thorens in France have reported over 20cm of fresh snow in the last 24 hours with Cervinia it Italy reporting over 35cm of new snow. Skiers and boarders who were fearing their ski holidays would be not be possible are now looking forward to a white Christmas.
Al Morgan, Information Manager at the Ski Club of Great Britain said of the snowfalls: “Many people in the snowsports industry were beginning to get concerned about the lack of snow but the snow has now started to fall and more is forecast for the weekend”.
The Ski Club of Great Britain’s website www.skiclub.co.uk has daily snow reports covering 250 resorts, daily in-depth reports from reps, twice weekly snow overviews and 3-5 day weather forecasts. The reports are the most up to date and accurate snow information on the Internet.
The Ski Club also offers a text message service where snow reports are sent directly to a mobile phone as an SMS. The reports are also available on a phone line.
Bringing snow reporting right up to date, a snow conditions round-up is now available on the new snowsports internet TV channel www.skiTV.co.uk – updated every Monday and Thursday.
