LaCie launches the octupus-like Huby hub
Elevates the USB hub to modern art

1 December 2006 14:24 GMT / By Amber Maitland
LaCie has managed to make a USB hub look both stylish and interesting, which is quite a feat as the humble hub is usually just a tangle of messy wires.
Designed by Ora-Ito, who also designed the LaCie Brick Hard Drive, the Huby comes with five USB2.0 cables and three FireWire 400 cables.
Its round base plays host to eight differently coloured LCDs to indicate when devices are attached; the device can be daisy chained to other hubs as well.
For $79, you get the various cables as well as a USB extension cable, a FireWire 300 extension cable, a fan, and a light.
