Jaguar to build all-new saloon

Producing a brand new sports saloon next year

Ailing Jaguar Cars has surprised pundits by announcing that it will be producing a brand new sports saloon next year.

The Jaguar XF, which will make its public debut next autumn, replaces the much-derided although rather good S-Type. Designed and developed at Jaguar’s Product Development Centre in Coventry, the XF will be built at Jaguar’s main plant in Birmingham.

Bibiana Boerio, MD of Jaguar, said: “The Jaguar XF is a new sports saloon that will challenge people to think again about Jaguar as daring and different. Our new XK sports car has been very well-received and is enjoying great success. We are now moving on to the next stage of Jaguar’s exciting new design era - and if you like the new XK, just wait until you see the new Jaguar XF”.

Customer deliveries of the XF have been scheduled for spring 2008, but this is dependent on market - and very possibly a takeover. No pictures are available yet but Pocket-lint will have them as soon as they are released so watch this space, Jag fans.
