Google has updated and refreshed its Google Desktop application with the announcement of Google Desktop 4.5.

The applications sees tweaks rather than the massive changes, but according to the Google blog they just couldn't "wait to get out".

New to the app is a visual refresh of the Sidebar and some Google Gadgets.

The cleaner and now transparent Sidebar supposedly integrates more seamlessly into your desktop environment while still providing convenient, at-a-glance access to all sorts of personalized information.

The new version is also compatible with the latest software such as Microsoft Vista, Office 2007, and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.
