Wii demographic fits the Disney audience

Disney’s gaming division, Buena Vista Game, has announced that it’s opening a new studio dedicated to developing games designed for Nintendo’s DS handheld and Wii console.

It already has a number of titles in development for the Nintendo platforms, but the company is keen to create more, perhaps anticipating that many Wii buyers will be atypical gamers, perhaps families with young children who fit the Disney demographic.

The Wii console is scheduled for release in the US on the 19 November, while Europeans have to wait a few more days before getting theirs.

Current titles from Buena Vista Game for the DS include Finding Nemo: Escape to the Big Blue; The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer; The Chronicles of Narnia; and Pirates of the Carabbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

The first two games for the Wii will be Chicken Little: Ace in Action, and Meet the Robinsons.
