Another standalone Blu-ray player has been delayed, this time the model from Pioneer. The BDP-HD1 has not passed quality control, according to a spokesperson writing to ElectronicHouse.com.

Although originally scheduled for a May release, it’s now been pushed back until December. “All of the player’s specifications had not been finalised in time to meet Pioneer’s quality control requirements”, wrote the spokesperson in an email to ElectronicHouse.com.

Last week it was announced that the release of Sony’s BDP-S1 Blu-ray player was also pushed back until December because a shortage of blue diodes.

The UK is not scheduled to receive the Sony or Pioneer players for quite some time.
