Sky One and Sky One HD to broadcast Lost
Rights lost by Channel 4
20 October 2006 10:59 GMT / By Amber Maitland
Interesting news for fans of the American hit series Lost. Although series one and two were broadcast to everyone with terrestrial TV on Channel 4 last year, the station has lost the rights to Sky.
Sky One and Sky One HD have won the exclusive UK rights to broadcast series 3 and 4.
Series 3 has already started in the US, where it ranked number 1 for its timeslot on 4 October, beating its nearest competitor by 83%.
"We're absolutely thrilled to bring LOST to Sky One. The series has defined TV drama over the last two years and has been the envy of every network”, said Director of Programming at Sky One, Two, and Three, Richard Woolfe. “Today's audiences demand more quality and flexibility than ever before, so we are intending to use various digital media platforms to make Lost available to our customers when they want and how they want ... ensuring they never miss the mysterious goings on of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.”
It's not the first time Sky has managed to steal a successful television series from terrestrial TV. Hit TV show 24 staring Keifer Sutherland was originally shown on BBC 2 before it moved to Sky for its third season.
