Four Thirds manufacturers publish joint catalogue

Manufacturers unite for common Four Thirds goal

Olympus, Panasonic, and Sigma are now jointly publishing a catalogue of their interchangeable lenses.

All three manufacturers make lenses according to the Four Thirds system, which is an open standard so that lenses and camera bodies are interchangeable. The system is named after the size of the image sensor that the companies believe provides “the optimum balance between picture quality and easy-to-handle camera size”. Other cameras are built around a 2/3 size image sensor.

The “Four Thirds Lens Joint Catalogue” is available now and covers in great detail over 40 pages the 24 lens that are currently available. Similar information is available on the Four Thirds website, which will be kept updated with new lenses.
