THQ to bring four cartoon-based games to the Wii

SpongeBob SquarePants and Cars to get videogame treatment for launch date

Games publisher THQ has announced its line-up for Nintendo's Wii launch on 19 November in the US.

Its four titles are aimed squarely at the young market, as they're all based around television and movie cartoons: Disney Pixar's Cars, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Barnyard, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab.

The Wii Remote features largely in all four games. Avatar: The Last Airbender is based on one of Nickelodeon TV network's TV shows, and lets gamers play as all four main characters: Aang, Katara, Haru, and Sokka. Players can mimic their martial arts movements with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.

Barnyard is based on the Barnyard movie, and lets gamers play golf, darts, billiards, and shooting tomatoes in order to defend the farm.

The Cars video game lets gamers interact with their favourite character from the film, and choose from 10 playable ones. It also sees the Wii Remote operating as a steering wheel in more than 30 races and minigames.

Finally, Sponge Bob SquarePants immerses gamers into his strange world, giving players the chance to progress through nine “visually bizarre” levels.
