Bang and Olufsen’s latest products is a hard disc recorder with 250GB of internal memory.

The HDR 2 can store up to 60 hours at DVD quality, or 110 hours at Super VHS quality. It streams both analogue or digital TV, so it should work with any setup.

The “smart” recorder can be set to automatically delete the oldest viewed episodes of a certain programme so that there’s enough space for the news. With the “keep episode” feature, you can store a predefined number of recordings, for example, the last two episodes of your favourity weekly show, and automatically delete any older than that.

The HDR 2 is designed to also function as a digital library, and lets you organise content in up to eight groups. A new SPLIT function also makes sure that continuous recordings can be more easily spliced into different groups.

Thanks to the optional Beolink system, you can also stream your HDR 2 recordings into any TV in the house and control them via the BEO 4 remote control.

Take an HDR 2 home for £980.

In related news, the company has also announced that the BeoMedia 1, the TV-based digital home entertainment system is now Mac-compatible and has been upgraded from 160GB to 250GB.
