Skype for Mac vulnerability patched

Update now to protect your system

Skype has issued an update of its software for Mac that plugs a security flaw that it rates “high risk”.

The bug is found in the way that the Skype software handles links; if a user clicked on malicious code, it could cause a software crash, or could allow a hacker to “execute arbitrary code without consent”, according to an advisory posted by Skype.

Skype also explains, “The attack requires the targeted user to manually follow a specially crafted malformed link, such as on a web page”.

All releases before and including 1.5.0.79 should be updated to the latest version 1.5.0.80.
