Sony Ericsson unveils Z558 triband clamshell with touchscreen

Comes with a stylus for character input

Sony Ericsson has quietly announced that it’s going to ship its first clamshell mobile with a touchscreen display.

The tri-band Z558 will feature a touch-sensitive main screen that is operated via an included stylus. The display itself features 262,144 pixels of resolution.

Other features include an unimpressive 1.3MP camera and 18MB of included memory with an expansion slot for Memory Stick Micro cards.

Aimed at the Asian market, the phone’s touchscreen makes messaging quick with character recognition technology for Chinese, Thai, and Korean, although it does recognise English as well.
