BT Vision signs music video content deal with Sony BMG

Artists' music videos to be part of the on-demand service

BT and Sony BMG have signed a deal to make Sony artists’ music video available on demand as part of BT’s next-gen TV service, BT Vision.

BT Vision is scheduled to launch in this autumn, although the company has yet to set a firm release date for their media centre.

The music videos from Sony BMG will be available from November 2006 through BT Vision Download Store, which offers movies and more for download on to PCs and portable devices.

The deal means that BT Vision customers will be able to access many of Sony BMG’s videos early, before their official broadcast release. Artists on the books include the Foo Fighters, Jamiroquai, Beyonce, and Bob Dylan, to name a few.

BT has already signed music agreements with Warner Music, VPL, i-concerts, NBD, and Eagle Rock, as well as content deals with BBC Worldwide, NBC Universal, and Paramount.

The BT Vision service includes a set-top box through which media is streamed with a broadband connections as well as a TV aerial.
