Nook Video, Barnes & Noble's cloud movie and TV show service, has gone live in the UK for the Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets. The company also plans to introduce apps for other platforms - including iPad and Android - that will also be able to access users' content.

Barnes & Noble is the first company to integrate the UltraViolet digital locker service into its cloud solution, with users also able to download or view their digital UV versions of films using Nook Video. UltraViolet is often the cloud solution used to complement Blu-ray and DVD releases, with many offering a free digital copy of the film to be stored in a UV account when a disc code is registered.

That means Nook HD and Nook HD+ owners can potentially get access to several digital versions of films they already own, through their devices and without having to part with another penny.

As well as UltraViolet integration, the Nook Video store offers an extensive collection of movies and TV shows from a number of key partners, including the BBC, HBO, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, STARZ, and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Content can be bought or rented in both standard and high definition and currently includes titles such as Ted, Men in Black 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises and Game of Thrones. Prices vary.
