Today’s website of the day is rydercup.com the official site of the historic biennial golf match which tees off today.

Many of us remember fondly that sunny afternoon at the Belfry in 1985 when Sam Torrance sank a testing putt to claim outright victory for the European team for the first time in 28 years.

This hotly contested competition pits the best golfers from the USA and Europe against each other over three days of match play.

This year’s competition, the 36th time it has been played, is being held at The K Club in Co. Kildare in the Republic of Ireland, and with the likes of Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Colin Montgomerie and José Maria Olazábal taking part it’s sure to be a classic encounter.
