Belkin is working with Eleksen, who produces ElekTex smart fabric touchpads for its new SportCommand for iPod products, which lets you wirelessly control your music.

ElexTex was recently incorporated into new iPod suits by Bagir, which are being sold this Autumn in retail outlets including Marks & Spencer.

“The SportCommand product demonstrates an innovative use of ElekTex, providng that textiles can be designed to provide all of the attributes a consumer product requires including tactile controls”, said Robin Shephard, CEO at Eleksen.

The SportCommand is a device that straps on to your arm and contains a smart-fabric remote, so that you can control your music device while snowboarding and mountain biking while concealing your device somewhere safe. It’s not yet available, but will be before the end of the year.
