ViewSonic announces ViewDock monitor with iPod cradle

Impressive array of features complement the built-in dock

ViewSonic has unveiled what looks to be the first monitor/iPod tie-in: a range of desktop displays with integrated iPod dock.

The ViewDock displays, which come in a 19-inch and 22-inch model, put the iPod front and center at the bottom of the monitor. The widescreens feature much more than the average display does, with several USB2.0 ports, an 8-in-1 card reader, a microphone, integrated stereo speakers and a subwoofer.

ViewSonic has turned the humble monitor into the cornerstone of the home media centre.

Details on the ViewDock displays are still a bit sketchy, but ViewSonic promises that they have ultra-fast response times and high brightness and contrast ratios.

The monitors should be available from mid-October in the UK, but there's no word on pricing yet.
