Creative has added to its webcam range with the Live! Cam Voice, which integrates a microphone to make video calling easier. The webcam, which retails for £79.99, offers dual microphone and Adaptive Array Microphone technology to filter out distracting background noise to make video conferencing clearer.
Creative has tried to improve image quality by integrating intelligent auto exposure and white balance so that images streamed from the 1.3MP camera are clear and sharp.
The popularity of webcams has risen in recent months because of the growing use of social networking. European Business Manager for Creative, Eoin Leyden, says, “Until recently webcams have really been used by net savvy users making the most of MSN Messenger or Skype".
“But social networking, a phenomena that shows no signs of abating, has suddenly thrown them into the spotlight as a ‘must buy’ for many consumers.”
The compact webcam features a light at its base to indicate whether the camera is on or off, and is capable of producing 5MP still images by employing interpolation.
