Tim Don claimed Triathlon's ultimate prize this weekend when he won the Men's Elite World Triathlon Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. Don outpaced rival and defending champion Hamish Carter of New Zealand to take the crown.

Fellow Brit and Will Clarke also took gold in the men's under-23 race, while Australian Emma Snowsill, one of triathlon’s favourite poster girls, won the women's race. Britain’s highest finisher in the female race was Andrea Whitcombe in sixth place.

"It was the best performance of my triathlon career", said Don. "I won on this course as a junior in 1998 and to take the senior title here is so rewarding. I'm stoked."

What is the connection between these winning athletes? ASICS shoes. The ASICS' GEL-DS Racer and GEL-Noosa Tri shoes are developing something of a reputation for themselves, with the DS Racer gracing the feet of Deena Kastor, winner of the 2006 Flora London Marathon women’s race.

The Noosa Tri in its distinctive bright colours is one of few specialised triathlon shoes available and worn by recreational Age Group athletes as well as at the Elite level. The GEL Noosa Tri design is a combination of images and colours that reflect Queensland, Australia, and in particular the magical colours and patterns of the Emperor Angelfish, found in the many parts of the Great Barrier Reef and Sunshine Coast. These colours are also used in the Noosa Multi Sport Festival event logo, held annually in Noosa.

The ASICS shoes are widely available from all good sports retailers, or more information at www.asics.co.uk. Keep your eyes on Pocket-lint for a forthcoming review of the GEL-Noosa Tri shoes.
