Nintendo rumoured to be launching MP3 player for DS and DS Lite soon

Device will play music stored on SD cards

Nintendo looks set to launch an official MP3 player for its portable devices, so that it adds music player to its functionality.

A picture of the new device’s packaging along with some specifications was taken from a brochure distributed at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany.

It reveals that the player is designed for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, and play music from SD cards.

Up to 2GB cards are supported, which equals to roughly 500 songs at best quality; the unit will display audio information in its graphical interface.

Price is rumoured to be around €30, while a release date is set for 8 October, which is also when the Opera browser for the portable consoles is expected to be released.
