Dell powers XPS 700 desktop with latest Intel Core 2 Duo

A raft of notebooks that feature the latest dual core processors from Intel was released this week, and now Dell has added a high-spec gaming desktop to the range.

The XPS 700 desktop runs on Core 2 Duo and Extreme processors, which, according to dell, use 40% less power; the company boasts that the new computer can achieve 47% better gaming performance, 35% better management of digital photos and other media, and 30% better performance for productivity than previous systems.

The desktop is fully customisable, and offers Nvidia graphics, AGEIA physics accelerators, and Sound Blast X-Fi audio cards.

Other features include up to 4GB dual-channel DDR2 memory, up to four hard drives for up to 2 terabytes of storage, two IEEE 1394 ports, two front, six back, and two internal USB2.0 ports.

All this, starting at £1099.
