Does Honda’s ambition know no bounds? Fresh from launching the all-new Civic and unveiling the Type-R, the all-conquering Japanese manufacturer will be lifting the lid on its new CR-V at the Paris Motor Show.

The September reveal will see the most car-like CR-V yet thrust upon the motoring public. The compact SUV, already a peach of a practical motor, gets new driving dynamics, better styling and higher standard equipment levels, and will be available with adaptive cruise control and a funky-sounding collision mitigation brake system. Ooh-er.

It also gets a new 2-litre petrol engine to go with the range’s superb 2.2 I-CTDi unit, which you can also find in the Civic (see pocket-lint review).

The massively anticipated Civic Type-R also makes its production-model debut in Paris. The so-called "superhatch" will come with buckets of power, tonnes of fun and oodles of street cred but will somehow manage to be as practical and wholesome as most Hondas tend to be.

The 2007 FR-V also gets its first outing. With a new engine line-up for next year, the compact multi-purpose vehicle, featuring six seats arranged in two rows of three, now comes with a 1.8 SOHC i-VTEC engine and a smattering of exterior and interior cosmetic changes.

In addition to the tin, Honda will demonstrating the latest fuel cell technology in the form of the FCX Concept car, a sleek, premium four-door saloon featuring a unique, low-floor fuel cell platform allowing a much bigger cabin than on previous cars of this type.
