New software makes your mobile scream if lost or stolen

Data can also be wiped remotely

A new service can remotely make your mobile emit an irritating, high-pitched noise if it’s been lost or stolen, and can wipe all the data on the device.

Mobile Manager, from UK-based vendor of mobile management tools Synchronica, works with all Windows Mobile-based handsets to keep them safe from prying eyes and thieving hands.

If the phone is reported stolen, the product can remotely lock or delete all the files on the mobile, so that potentially sensitive information can’t be retrieved.

This feature will appeal especially to business users who want to keep data safe, especially in light of a recent report by Touch Digital that claims that its engineers were able to retrieve 24,000 pages of data from nine mobile phones purchased on eBay.

The Mobile Manager product won’t be available to buy by consumers; rather, Synchronica will offer the device to operators and business.
