When the blurb for this site asked if I was one of those people who looks after their financial arrangements using “lists and spreadsheets”, I must confess, the world “yes” didn’t really spring to mind.

My financial management consists of a pile of bank statements dating back to 2002, which acts as a handy rest for empty coffee cups, loose change and various other bits and pieces of the typical ephemera of modern life.

The first I know about running out of money is when I’m politely refused by an ATM.

So anything that lets me get a handle on my financial affairs has got to be worth a look, and www.moneyvista.com seems to be one place to start.

For a small monthly fee, you get access to a range of tools, guides and useful advice, which you can use to devise a proper financial plan charting every step on the way to your retirement.

Not for everybody, but if, like me, you have a severe allergy to Excel, this might be worth a look.
