SanDisk launches 8GB flash-memory-based DAP

Latest edition to the Sansa e200 series

SanDisk has launched an 8GB edition to its Sansa e200 flash-memory-based product line of portable music devices.

The e280 boasts 8GB of internal memory, and incorporates a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 2GB cards.

At around the same size as Apple's nano, the Sanso e280 boasts double the amount of memory of the largest nano at the same price.

Although an 8GB Apple nano is rumoured to be launched before Christmas, it's unlikely that it'll be able to match or beat the price of SanDisk's player.

Not only does it play all types of non-DRM audio tracks, it also displays photos and videos on its 1.8-inch screen thanks to the Sansa Media Converter.

Other features include a Digital FM tuner with the ability to record radio, a built-in microphone for voice recoding, and a user-replaceable and rechargeable Li-ion battery.

The Sansa e280 will cost around $250, while the smaller devices are dropping in price; the 2GB version is now under $140.
