Asus has announced a new high-definition version of the Asus Transformer Prime on Monday at CES in Las Vegas.

The new model will sport the same specs as the current Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime that is about to go on sale in the UK, however, this time it comes with a 1080p HD screen for those looking for an even crisper picture than on the original model.

According to Asus, the screen on the Transformer 700 Series will be a 10.1-inch WUXGA Full HD 1920x1200 resolution screen. The model will still come with an 8-megapixel camera, the Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

However those holding out for a 7-inch Transformer Prime will be disappointed, say Asus. That said, while Asus stated that there are currently no plans to produce one, a mystery 7-inch Tegra 3 tablet from Asus did turn up at the Nvidia press conference.

And what about all those rumours? Well, it turns out that Asus's server was hacked and a image of a different 7-inch tablet found. That model is actually called the MemMo 370T and is a 7-inch Android powered machine.

Sadly there are no plans to bring it to the UK and it will not be coming with a Transformer-like keyboard dock or be able to plug into the 10.1-inch Transformer dock either, or so we're told. We're looking forward to seeing how this one straightens itself out. Stay tuned.
