Skoda launch Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI PD vRS

Diesel-powered promise of 50mpg

18 August 2006 19:36 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Skoda has managed to fit a 170bhp diesel engine in to the Octavia vRS meaning that the new motor promises some 48.7 miles to the gallon.

The 170bhp 2.0-litre engine brings the price of the hatchback to £18,370 and the estate to £19,220, £845 more than the 197bhp petrol-powered vRS.

Equipment is the same as for the petrol version, which means climate control, CD player, alloy wheels, ESP (Electronic Stability Control) and driver, passenger and side airbags.

Although drivers are unlikely to reach the suggested 48.7mpg stated by the company, drivers should still be able to get 500 miles per tank making it a very interesting proposition for company drivers.
