Acer Iconia Tab A200 priced and dated for the US

5 January 2012 14:59 GMT / By Paul Lamkin

The Acer Iconia Tab A200 entered the realms of officialdom back in December and we now know when the Honeycomb flavoured Tegra 2 device will be hitting the shops.

In the US that is - where a release date of 15 January has been stated and a price from $329.99. In the UK we still haven't got official word on the launch plans. Online retailer very.co.uk has it up for order at £299, but with a delivery date of 20 February- we wouldn't, however, count that as a reliable source.

Hopefully, by the time the A200 does officially hit these shores it will come packing Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, as a free-upgrade is planned for mid-February.

The tablet, which made several appearances in rumourland on its route to reality is an Nvidia Tegra 2 powered one, clocked in at 1GHz per core and boasts 1GB of RAM. The display is a 1280x800, 10.1-inch panel and there is a 2-megapixel camera on board too.

The Acer Ring is an integral part of the tablet; a round shortcut menu that can quickly boot up applications like Google Maps.

$329.99 gets you the 8GB version, it's $20 more for a 16GB - so a no brainer really.

A much anticipated Tegra 3 flavoured Iconia Tab, the rumoured A700, is set to be unleashed in Vegas next week at CES. Sporting the latest Nvidia mobile action inside, the 10.1-inch tab is said to boast a healthy 1920x1200 resolution and a 5-megapixel camera that can shoot HD video as well.

So you might want to wait before filling that Iconia shaped hole in your life.
