Logitech has added to the already-bewildering array of iPod speakers available with two shiny new models, one of which is portable.

The AudioStation Express portable speakers run either on batteries or from mains power, and are bundled with a protective case and wireless remote.

Sound quality promises to be above-average, with two 2.4-inch Max-X high-excursion drivers and a bass port.

The iPod nestles in the centre of the box, in a dock that Logitech promises will fit all current and future iPods as it complies with the Apple’s Universal Dock Adaptor specs.

The system also features a video output jack for easy connectivity to a TV or monitor, as well as a 3.5mm input for use with other personal audio devices.

The second system released from Logitech is the AudioStation high-performance stereo system, which manages to combine the latest in touch-screen technology with retro styling.

Two satellites feature two drivers, plus 1-inch, high-definition, soft-dome tweeters to handle high frequencies, and 4-inch, high-power, long-throw woofers.

All the controls on the front are touch sensitive and illuminated by little LED lights.

It also has an in-built FM/AM stereo tuner, and it supports RDS for display track information on the LCD.

The Portable speakers are available for around $130, while the AudioStation stereo system costs $300.
