Archos has announced an updated version of its Gen 8 tablet, the Archos 70b, adding Honeycomb to the mix and ramping up the spec sheet a bit.

The all-new 70b now packs Android 3.2 and shouldn't be to sluggish thanks to doubling the RAM up to 512MB. There's also a crisper display on offer, its 7-inch screen now comes with a 1024x600 resolution (the original was 800x480).

It features the same TI OMAP3 1.2GHz processor as the first iteration, 8GB of extra storage and there’s a microSD card slot for expansion as well.

Archos is keen to pitch the revamped 70b as "the first Android Honeycomb tablet under £180" although we'll let you do your own validity check on that one.

One thing is for sure - it's a cheapish option for anyone wanting to get on the Android tablet bandwagon, with full access to Google's goodies and the multitude of Android Market apps.

It will hit the shops in January and cost you a penny less than £180.
