Epson has launched two new budget-priced A4 scanners that integrates Matrix CCD technology, which is supposed to produce high-quality photo scans.

The Perfection V100 Photo features a maximum optical resolution of 3200 x 9600dpi, while the V350 achieves 4800 x 9600dpi.

Both scan 35mm film strips and slides in thanks to adaptors that hold them securely in place, while the hinge design on their lids opens 90degrees or 180degrees for scanning books and other objects.

They come bundled with software including Epson Scan, Epson Creativity Suite, ArcSoft PhotoImpression 5, and ABBYY FineReader Sprint.

The V100 is available from September for £70, while the V350 costs £100.
