HTC has confirmed, via Facebook, that it is rolling out the much waited Honeycomb update for its tablet; the HTC Flyer.

“Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM/3G version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available here in the UK, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning this week!” HTC told its fans on the social networking site before adding:

“Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.”

It means that the tablet will now finally be able to run tablet specific apps rather than ones designed for a phone.

HTC launched the Flyer at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February with Gingerbread, however promised that the Honeycomb update would come shortly after. The launch follows almost 10 months of building and internal testing.

No word however on when the Flyer will be upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich.
