The rumoured Acer Iconia Tab A200 entered the realms of officialdom, arriving in a Honeycomb-powered Tegra 2 form.
The tablet has made several appearances in rumourland on its route to release, including a rather enjoyable family friendly video leak. Specs-wise, the tablet is Nvidia Tegra 2 powered, clocked in at 1GHz and boasts 1GB of RAM. The display is a 1280 x 800, 10.1-inch, panel and there is a 2-megapixel camera sat on the front.
The Acer Ring we also saw in the video leak is set to ship with the tablet which will be either available in titanium grey or metallic red. The Acer Ring is a round shortcut menu that can quickly boot up applications like Google Maps.
It comes with a microSD card slot, scoring points against the likes of the Motorola Xoom 2, which doesn't offer this feature. you also get a full-sized USB to make connections and adding accessories easy.
As of now, the tablet is shipping with a Honeycomb build but will be appearing in Ice Cream Sandwich in January 2012. No pricing details yet, but expect it to be decent enough value for money.
Shame it is not the Tegra 3 quad-core powered Acer tablet that is currently doing the rumour rounds. Still, that just means more excitement to be had when the upgraded hardware does make an appearance.
