While some manufactures go for the stylish or futuristic look, others it seems are happy to take the retro look.

In something that looks like it fell out of a time machine straight from the 50s,

IWorld.co.uk and Firebox has just added the SpeckTone Retro Docking iPod Speaker System to its iPod-compatible line of accessories and peripherals.

The speaker looks like an old-fashioned radio of the 50s, and is made of a high-gloss, lacquered word cabinet that comes in either black, white, or mint green.

The retro desktop speakers come in green, black or white and are housed in a high-gloss wooden cabinet even your gran would be happy to own.

However both online shops are keen to point out there is nothing ancient about it contents.

The speaker set features a 4-inch subwoofer and two 3-inch drivers that together create a 28 watt output

Compatible with all docking iPods, and it will even charge your player as things normally do. Of course failing the iPod dock the speaker set comes with a handy 3.5mm output that means you can plug in any MP3 player with a mini-plug headphone jack.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a 1950's price. Available from the end of the month, the iPod SpeckTone Retro Speakers will cost £129.95.

For a limited time, iWorld.co.uk is offering 2 free iPod skins for the video and nano versions with the purchase of the £120 system.
